In the third episode of Gossip Girl, Blair and Serena continue with their mess of a friendship. Representatives from the Ivy Leagues come to their school, and it is their duty as students to basically suck up to them so that they can gain admission to the Ivy League school of their choice. Serena has an interest in Brown University, and of course, leave it to Blair to try and ruin that for her.

Throughout this season, Blair and Serena have an on-and-off relationship. One moment they are the best of friends while two seconds later they are in a dramatic fight. This entire series reminds me of Catullus' "Amici et Inimici" series of poems. For example, throughout this particular groups of poems, Catullus continually sees the bad in people, just like Blair always tries to find something horribly wrong with Serena and use that against her. Catullus is just like Blair in so many ways! For instance, Blair cannot trust Serena after a certain little incident that happened between her and Blair's boyfriend. Catullus does not feel like he is able to trust people because they can never measure up to their promises or they might have failed him in a certain way. This lack of trust definitely ruins how Catullus views people in general. However, Blair just hates Serena.

Well until next time!
